In this project I created a pitch for a fully illustrated bible aimed at young adults and teenagers. For the pitch I illustrated the first book in the bible, which is Genesis. This is where you find many of your classic stories like Adam and Eve, Noah’s Ark and Joseph’s amazing coat. I also wanted to illustrate some of the lesser known stories, or at least lesser illustrated, such as Jacob’s bickering wives and the brothers who fought in the womb.

During the creation of the book, I had to consider carefully the look of things. For example, the scene that I depicted from the story of Adam and Eve was when they were banished from the Garden of Eden. It describes there being two Seraphim guarding the entrance. Seraphim have commonly been misunderstood in art, and are often drawn in cherub like form with cute faces and wings. However, this is not how they are actually described.

Once all the illustrations were complete, I formatted them into the text and created a design for a bible. This was my favourite part as it all came together into something I could look at and touch with my own hands.
